Archie Comics, Show Me More Mega Man X!

When Archie Comics started making a Mega Man comic last year I was pretty psyched. I was not disappointed when I started reading it either. Not only does the comic do service to the video games by fleshing out the general stories of each title, it adds brand new story arcs and gives new information that we would other wise never no about. I’m a huge Mega Man fan, but when I heard there was going to be a Mega Man X back up story inside each issue, I might have gone full fanboy (you never go full fanboy) right in the middle of my job.

While I’m thankful for all that Archie has done for Mega Man, I can’t help but want more from them. Mega Man X could certainly be a stand alone comic and would attract a new audience to Archie if they kept the dark tone of the storyline. Most of Archie Comic’s books, if not all of them, are kid friendly and easy to read. If Mega Man X released with a strong story line and keeping the theme like it was in the video games, it would attract an older audience to Archie Comics.

Archie Comics has an opportunity here to tell a story between these two books that’s never been told before. “What happened in between Mega Man and Mega Man X?”. There’s plenty of speculation but no one knows for sure what happened. All we know is that Doctor Light created X but X had to undergo diagnostics that would take 30 years to complete before he would be ready to go out into the world. We don’t know what happens to Doctor Light, we can only assume he passes away and X is discovered 100 years later by Doctor Cain and that’s where the back up story for Mega Man X begins. There are so many questions that need to be answered and Archie Comics could be the company to do it for us.

What do you guys think? Are you satisfied with Mega Man X just as a back up story within the Mega Man Comic? Do you think the story will be told about what happens between Mega Man and Mega Man X? What would you guys like to see in future issues? Leave a comment or shoot us an email!
