WILW: Please sign Cedric

So, I've been away for a few weeks and some really amazing things have happened. One of those things though, truly stands out. The WWE has been putting on the Cruiserweight Classic all summer. Featuring some of the most amazing wrestlers from around the world, the tournament has been nothing short of revolutionary. One of the competitors was Cedric Alexander. Alexander has been around for a little while now, and I will cover his career more in-depth in a later post because he is deserving of more than a quick sentence or two. The reason he is featured here though is because of what happened after his match with Kota Ibushi. Ibushi, who you can read about here, was always going to go to the finals in this tournament. I knew that. You knew that. And yet, there were times in this match where I though Cedric Alexander was going to win. Ultimately he didn't, but the story telling was so crisp that it had everyone on the edge of their proverbial seats. It was an incredible match and definitely a MOTY contender. But even more incredible than the match is what happened afterwards. The crowd started a "Thank You" chant. A visibly emotional Cedric Alexander took an extra minute or two to walk to the back. And that is when something special happened. The crowd turned the chant into a "Please sign Cedric" chant which did two things. Watch.

One, it brought the man to tears and two, it brought out the boss who after hearing a chant of please sign Cedric says okay and gives a thumbs up. In a world where good things are often buried underneath a mountain of negative, this was beautiful. Make sure to check back next week for more wrestling love. Until then...
