Why I Love Wrestling: Survivor Series Predictions

Ah Thanksgiving, that most wonderful time of the year. The leaves have changed color, the air has a certain crispness, everything I buy at a store is pumpkin flavored, and hoodies are an everyday thing again. Amidst all the fall cheer is the final of WWE’s big four shows, Survivor Series. I love this show even without the bulk of the card being traditional Survivor Series matches. This year’s show marks the 25th anniversary of the Undertaker’s debut (which is insane, btw). It’s looking like a solid show with a huge clash between the aforementioned ‘Taker partnered with his “brother” Kane taking on the Wyatt family and the conclusion of the World Heavyweight Championship Tournament. Who’s walking out on top? Read on to find out.

Dolph Ziggler vs Tyler Breeze

Tyler Breeze was doing stellar work in NXT. But, he was stuck without much to do. He wasn’t going to be champ. So, main roster then. And a feud with Ziggler. Which, could be worse I suppose. Ziggler had been in a program with Rusev. Rusev though, got hurt. Which left Ziggler in the middle of a story with no way to really get out. Lana was already hurt and Summer was flopping between roles. In steps Breeze with Summer (Summer Breeze get it?), to carry on the story. I don’t really care to be honest for the outcome of this match. I’m sure it will be good but it doesn’t matter who wins. I’m going to guess Breeze and be super disappointed when Ziggler wins.

Roman Reigns vs Alberto Del Rio – WWE Championship tournament

Seth Rollins getting hurt was a terrible circumstance. But it created a wonderful opportunity to establish a new top dog. That top dog is probably going to be Roman Reigns. This match with Del Rio should be awesome. Both guys can go in the ring. But Reigns is winning. Del Rio is great as US Champ and should be in that position for quite a bit. He doesn’t need to win this tournament. People, the internet mostly, will hate Reigns for getting to the final round. And there is no way he won’t get there.

Dean Ambrose vs Kevin Owens

Man, I am torn on this one. My heart wants Owens to win badly. He is so fucking good. He deserves to be on the very top of the industry. On the other hand, I love Ambrose as well. He’s been killing it all year. And honestly, he deserves to be on the very top of the industry as well. I have no idea where the WWE is going with this one but the smart money is on Ambrose. Ownes, like Del Rio, is on top with the IC belt. And he should be there for quite awhile. He doesn’t need this win yet. And Ambrose vs Reigns is the better main event for Survivor Series.

Roman Reigns vs Dean Ambrose – WWE World Heavyweight Championship

So this match might not happen. So I won’t write too much about it. Needless to say, if this match happens, it should be out of control good. These two will “kill” each other in the ring. It will be glorious. And Reigns will win. With a heel turn hopefully. We’ll see.

Paige vs Charlotte – Divas Championship

Charlotte is an amazing athlete. Paige is an amazing wrestler. Their match will be great IF it gets the time it deserves. Which it might. Who knows? The Divas revolution has been botched so hard. A dropped ball is being kind. But these two can go and should have a really great match. My guess is that Charlotte keeps the belt and Paige goes a bit further off the deep end.

What do you get the man who has everything for his 25th anniversary? Bearded dudes in sheep masks apparently. The Brothers of Destruction vs The Wyatt Family should be awesome. I’m really looking forward to this. Taker and Kane are past their prime to be sure. But they can both still go in the right match. And the Wyatts are more than capable of having a great match with them. It should be hard hitting with a decent amount of big spots. Taker and Kane are getting the win though. No reason to think otherwise.

Traditional Survivor Series match

No one has been announced as of this writing so I’m going with Cesaro because fuck it.

Dan Ryan

Dan Ryan was once the most feared and respected luchador in the world until the "Great DDT Disaster of '85" where Dan unfortunately DDT'd his opponent so hard into the ground that he opened a gate to the underworld that let unholy things into this world. After that, Dan refused to wrestle anymore but he's found new life writing and talking about his favorite hobbies here at Geekade. He pens the weekly Why I Love Wrestling series, co-hosts The Stone Age Gamer Podcast, expertly pairs video games with beer, and much, much more. Dan is a personality that Geekade simply would not be the same without.
