Why I Love Wrestling: Match of the Year 006 – Hiroshi Tanahashi vs AJ Styles

Another week with a focus on a match of the year contender. AJ Styles has been putting in some serious work ever since leaving TNA and joining NJPW. He has been a man revitalized and at the very top of his game. It’s honestly great to see, as AJ had always been one of the top guys in the industry stuck in a mediocre company. Now, he is headlining shows and running the most popular faction in pro wrestling, the Bullet Club. This match against Hiroshi Tanahashi took place at the G1 Climax tournament that brought us our candidate last week. It’s a stellar match that showcases the true wrestling ability of each of these guys. It’s easily a top ten match of the year but was it the best? Check out the link below and follow me on twitter, @geekadedan, to let me know what you think. We’ve got one more contender next week and then it’s time to reveal the top match of the year. Stay tuned.

Dan Ryan

Dan Ryan was once the most feared and respected luchador in the world until the "Great DDT Disaster of '85" where Dan unfortunately DDT'd his opponent so hard into the ground that he opened a gate to the underworld that let unholy things into this world. After that, Dan refused to wrestle anymore but he's found new life writing and talking about his favorite hobbies here at Geekade. He pens the weekly Why I Love Wrestling series, co-hosts The Stone Age Gamer Podcast, expertly pairs video games with beer, and much, much more. Dan is a personality that Geekade simply would not be the same without.
