WILW: Extreme Rules 2016 Predictions

Just a quick and dirty prediction this week since it’s my kids birthday tomorrow, I’m writing on Friday, and I don’t plan well. Extreme Rules looks like a hell of show. On to the predictions.

New Day vs The Vaudevillains

This should be a great match. The Vaudevillains have been doing extremely well on the main roster and New Day have been killing it for months. I’m thinking the Vaudevillains take it here to set up a feud with Enzo and Cass when Enzo makes his comeback.

Kevin Owens vs The Miz vs Cesaro vs Sami Zayn

A four way for the IC Title is usually a good time. The four guys in this match are super solid. I’m expecting Cesaro to take the belt here. He is hot right now and Owens and Zayn don’t need a belt to have a huge feud leading up to SummerSlam. The Miz is the odd man out as he is a solid hand but not on the level of the other three. Cesaro needs the belt before he moves up to the World Title scene.

Charlotte vs Natalya

This is the easiest to call. Natalya is basically done according to reports. Charlotte is the queen of the division right now. This match is as good a curtain call as Natalya could hope for.

Kalisto vs Rusev

Hey look, the US belt. Kalisto has been US champion for a bit with no storylines at all. Rusev is back to being a monster heel. His run with the US belt was great and having him take the belt back would be a boost to the product overall. Kalisto can go on to have great matches and build himself up while Rusev can murder people. Win, win.

Dean Ambrose vs Chris Jericho (Ambrose Asylum match)

The very first Ambrose Asylum match should be fun as hell. This may be the most extreme match at Extreme Rules. Easy call here for Ambrose. He needs this win and it can become a signature match for him.

Dolph Ziggler vs Baron Corbin

Corbin has been big since his call up and Ziggler is nothing more than enhancement talent at this point. His job in this match will be to make Corbin look good and he will do it well. Corbin should dominate for most of the match and end up hitting the End of Days to take the win.

The Usos vs Anderson and Gallows

The former Bullet Club, now just the Club, haven’t been booked as strong as I would like since their debut. The Usos have gotten a huge rub from being related to Roman Reigns. I have no idea where they might go with this match. In my heart, I want Anderson and Gallows to win. I think The Usos will go over though setting up more matches in the future and the main event of this show as well.

Roman Reigns vs AJ Styles

AJ Styles main eventing to WWE PPV’s in a row is crazy. Their last match was probably one of Roman’s best. This match should be no different. There will be tomfoolery and, going out on a limb, I think AJ is going over. It makes the most sense storyline wise and sets up a longer term story.

That’s what I’ve got for this show. Follow me on twitter and instagram, @geekadedan, and let me know what you think. Until then…

Dan Ryan

Dan Ryan was once the most feared and respected luchador in the world until the "Great DDT Disaster of '85" where Dan unfortunately DDT'd his opponent so hard into the ground that he opened a gate to the underworld that let unholy things into this world. After that, Dan refused to wrestle anymore but he's found new life writing and talking about his favorite hobbies here at Geekade. He pens the weekly Why I Love Wrestling series, co-hosts The Stone Age Gamer Podcast, expertly pairs video games with beer, and much, much more. Dan is a personality that Geekade simply would not be the same without.
