Jonathan Robert

Jonathan loves comic books and he loves coffee. Jonathan’s mother gave him his first taste of coffee at the tender age of 3 and it was love at first sip. He now needs to wheel around an IV drip of caffeine at all times or else he turns into a dark, monstrous creature that feeds on despair and makes babies cry. The local village-folk have kept him locked away ever since the “decaf catastrophe of ‘06.” When allowed out of his dungeon, he writes various articles for Geekade, including the monthly column, “Welcome to the D-List,” and records the "Mutant Musings" podcast with his geek-tastic girlfriend, Patti.

pryde of the x-men is the first x-men cartoon, but as far as i know (purely going by memory) mutants/x-men only popped up spider-man and his amazing friends before that.

Allegedly in the 60s, the X-Men showed up in Namor’s segment of The Marvel Super Heroes cartoon. Can’t find video evidence, but that’s what I was thinking of! But yep, Pryde of the X-Men was the first official X-Men cartoon!

agree to disagree on uncanny x-men. not only was it a great issue but i think emma was very much in character. she was defenseless. she can be a double agent, get herself free and stay alive so that as she is helping the bad guys she is taking them down as well. classic “im undercover but i have to be convincing” story. plus this is black king emma post x-men post death of cyclops and all that manipulation/ “evil”. she is back to being ruthless but this time instead of being ruthless to amass fortunes and power ala when she was in the inner circle, its now to help mutant kind ala mystique, which is why it is soooo perfect these two are partners. LOVING IT!!!!!!!! i geeked out when i read how she (emma) had been behind everything the whole time. reforming the x-men and keeping the government off their backs. SO GOOD!

I’m glad you’re excited and enjoying it! It’s just gotten less and less likable for me. Maybe that’ll change in the few issues left!

wolverine is the worst! everyone else was great in pryde of the x-men. emma like a mature sophisticated woman, kitty like a bratty annoying kid, its how i image them to sound in my head………

maybe its a generational/age gap thing (or just a personal taste thing) but i very much enjoy 60s x-men. i”ve read all those issues at least 3 times (as i have most x-men issues, some more). it just works for me. i love to read and i read novels like charlotte church and the works of shakespeare while everyone else my age were reading dr. seuss lol yeah im an odd duck 🙂

well they cant have more than one woman, you know how they do……and of the two emma not only is the more “apealing” she is a part of kitty’s origin which this pilot is loosely based on. thats my reasoning of why they chose emma

I have a reccomendation for you guys. Read the 70s x-men comics while listening to def leppard’s hysteria album. It fits perfectly.
