Patti and Jonathan discuss “Survival of the Fittest” and “Shadowed Past,” which oddly has nothing to do with Shadowcat. Jonathan gets excited over bendy notes and Patti mispronounces something during the commercial which leads to an unedited laugh-fest. What does Patti call Cyclops that has Jonathan so surprised? What do half-brother and step-brother have in common? Find out on this episode of Mutant Musings Evolution!

Jonathan loves comic books and he loves coffee. Jonathan’s mother gave him his first taste of coffee at the tender age of 3 and it was love at first sip. He now needs to wheel around an IV drip of caffeine at all times or else he turns into a dark, monstrous creature that feeds on despair and makes babies cry. The local village-folk have kept him locked away ever since the “decaf catastrophe of ‘06.” When allowed out of his dungeon, he writes various articles for Geekade, including the monthly column, “Welcome to the D-List,” and records the "Mutant Musings" podcast with his geek-tastic girlfriend, Patti.

im going to be that nerd; actually, back in the 60s and 70s before we had a sinister magneto has done the whole mutant experiment thing. he created the mutates of the savage land. its his experiments to make himself stronger that lead to the stranger coming to earth, the creation of alpha the ultimate mutant who turned him into a baby. so as odd/out of character as it may seem post sinister in reality its classic magneto

The Savage Land Mutates are different – not technically mutants. We delve into it much more in episode 5, that Magneto would not perform what essentially amounts to eugenics on mutants. Essentially, he tries to create this “perfect race” and it sounds too much like WWII Germany.

yeah i know their not mutants just saying he’s not above genetic experimentation in general as he’s done it in the past though they no longer reference these events the comics exist lol. all his scientific endeavors were so he could make mutants (especially himself) reach their true/full potential which lead him to create Alpha and that machine that increased his powers. i have no idea what eugenics are so maybe its not the same thing? (quick google search) maybe im remember this from ultimate marvel or some other alternate universe but isnt that why magnus sought out lorna’s mom? cause she had the perfect dna to mix with his to create a powerful child ala a lot of male villains from back in the day (serpent crown event, the celestial mother in avengers, HER from avengers, that dude who raped ms. marvel) or more recently todoroki’s dad. they may not be thinking “breed out disabilities” but they are all stating “i want to make the ultimate human/super being. my genetic structure with this person’s genetic structure will make that possible” like sinister did with scott and jean, its the whole reason he made madelyne as you know. but as i stated earlier none of these people ever bring up the problematic part of eugenics just the aspect of “ultimate/perfect being”

Exactly, they leave the problematic part of it out, specifically by calling it what it is, which may work fine for most storytelling, but with Magneto it didn’t sit right with me. Maybe it’ll make more sense on our next episode lol I don’t remember 😛

great nightcrawler by the way. i think its your best impression you’ve done. haha i love how its specifically a “dna lab” versus “a science lab” lol ok logan. yeah i took it as the adult xmen were doing that stereotypical adult thing of “he’s too young to process this” so they are being over protective. also manipulative xaiver “if he knows she’s his mother, maybe he will seek her out and join her side and we lose a member”. great show and see you on twitters. THANKS!
