PITAthon 2019: Art Auction & Mike vs. Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth
Meanwhile, in the world of Castlevania, Nurse Pretendo gazes upon a portrait of ruin…
Today’s announcement is two-fold. First, Geekade is taking on Castlevania. Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth for WiiWare, to be precise. Second, the PITAthon art auction is returning, so now if you donate, you can get some super cool artwork to go along with that sense of satisfaction that comes from donating to a charitable cause! And yes, the auction includes the killer Castlevania piece in the comic above. Artists of all different styles have been kind enough to donate work based on the games we’ll be playing during the PITAthon, and we are eternally grateful to them for their contributions. Here’s a sneak peek at another one from Shoot the Moon Stitches.
The auction spans from August 3 at 8pm, until Saturday, August 10, at 8pm EST during the PITAthon, and we’ll have links to the items posted very soon. Keep your eyes on PITAthon.com for more information.
Now that you’re all acquainted with the art auction, let’s talk about today’s game.
WHEN:
Sunday, August 11th from 2am-5am
Who will be playing:
A long time ago, the Stone Age Gamer Podcast had more people than just Dan and Kris. One of those people was Mike Sheridan. Mike’s love of the Castlevania franchise is as deep as it is well documented, and he’s been kind enough to come take the late shift during the PITAthon and take on the challenge of Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth. It’s a Castlevania game that he isn’t very familiar with, so it’s likely to be quite a feat to defeat in his allotted time.
Why it’s a pain in the ass:
Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth is a pain in the ass for a number of reasons. First, it’s an old-school style Castlevania game. Those games are never what you’d call easy, and this game is no exception. It’s also probably one of the least played entries in the venerable series, so chances are Mike won’t know what’s coming. The other thing that makes this game a pain is its availability, or lack thereof. This game was only available as a download on the Wii Shop Channel, which has been deactivated. Meaning there’s no legal way to obtain this game anymore. But we have one, and we’re going to make Mike play it. And if he finishes it? We’ll make him play the original one too.
That’s all for today. Check back next week for our next game announcement, and a fresh Nurse Pretendo adventure!!!
