PITAthon 2019: Kris & Ferg vs. Raiders of the Lost Ark

Meanwhile, in the world of Raiders of the Lost Ark, Nurse Pretendo encounters an injury that may be too severe to mend…

Geekade’s getting their Atari on with the infamously obtuse Raiders of the Lost Ark for the Atari 2600! It’s a completely ridiculous game, and one that’s garnered a reputation as quite the difficult one to finish. Kris may need to call in for backup…

WHEN:

Saturday, August 10th from 6pm-8pm

Who will be playing:

The Stone Age Gamer Podcast’s Kris Randazzo will be tackling this monster, and joining him will be special guest and all around wonderful human Ferg from the Atari 2600 Game by Game Podcast! Kris and Ferg teamed up a few years ago to play the atrocious Sneak n Peek for 2600, and they had a ball. So tackling yet another less than spectacular Atari game should result in plenty of good times for all. Since it’s unlikely that Indy will take up their entire 2 hour block, any extra time will be spent perusing the Atari 2600 catalog for other “exciting” challenges.

Why it’s a pain in the ass:

Well, multiple reasons. First, the controls are kind of bonkers. The game requires the use of two joysticks at the same time, which doesn’t really work. It’s also kind of obtuse. And by kind of, I mean completely. At first glance, it makes no sense at all. After reading the instruction manual, it makes… a little sense? With Kris never having played it before, and a copy of the all-important instruction manual nowhere in sight, this is going to be a true test of sanity.

That’s all for today. Check back next week for our next game announcement, and a fresh Nurse Pretendo adventure!!!
